I’m Cal Clarke but where I’m from, people call me Chunchimou. It’s a Australian indigenous name given to be by the people native to the area I grew up and reside in. It was given to me at a young age because of my already developed obsession for all things fish and it aptly translates to Garfish.
Im from the far, far north east coast reaches in one of the most rural parts of beautiful Australia. I have always loved to fish and my engagement in fishing was stepped into overdrive when fly-fishing came to my life.
Fishing to anyone like me is an obsession. Though, for me it isn’t a sport or food source, a challenge or past time. For me fishing is the ultimate vehicle for adventure. It’s the driver behind your desire to learn, travel, explore, think outside the square and see life in a different light. It is ever evolving, ever changing and the one thing that makes me dream. From rich to poor corners of the globe. Freezing mountain streams and tropical sand flats, grassy pastoral paddocks and thick, humid rain forrest; an ever present technicolor that shines bright as the yankees stadium, fishing never ceases to amaze how far it will take me.
