Tell me about where you guide and what you offer your clients.
I guide all around long island. I love the flats season in Long Island Sound and I do the summer season on the North Fork of Long Island. After Labor Day I do the fall run in Montauk.
I have a 23’ Bluewater and a flats boat. I would say my favorite thing is the flats game and sight fishing. I love sight fishing for stripers. It is without a doubt the best game you could find in the North East.
What is your history with fishing?
I come from a big outdoors family growing up hunting and fishing. I gravitated towards fishing from the start. I got into surfcasting really hard and then that got into the fly fishing world. I mean really got into it. It consumed me. I have always been one of the younger guides in the game. I started 11 years ago and now I am 34. That was it. I just super passionate about it and that was really game over.
Once I started fly-fishing it took me all over the place. From Mexico to Belize to the Bahamas, it just kind of took me away and got me so incredibly inspired. It brought me to some unbelievable places and I got to meet some unbelievable people. Fly-fishing has been such a special part of my life. Some magical water I have gotten to experience over the years. It’s a huge part of it, travelling that is and exploring. It makes you crave fishing even more.
What is your best memory fishing?
I started fresh water fishing when I got in the fly fishing game. To go from trout to hooking into my first saltwater game fish is the best feeling. Some thing about big fish with raw power really stuck with me. Going toe to toe with a large fish is unreal. It makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck. I can remember the first tarpon like it was yesterday. Once you start to get on some big fish it really itches your brain and gets your heart pumping.
