What is the general difference between the TF-Series, the T-Series and your new TX-Series?
The TF-Series is our light tackle reels, the T-Series are our big game reels, and the new TX-Series is a hybrid series between both.
Which of your reels are sealed?
All 3-TAND reels are sealed -- from our 2-wt to our 15-wt.
What type of drag system do you use?
We used a stacked drag system, but we’ve taken it to a new level. In addition to using locking discs, we treat our carbon fiber disc with a nano resin. We call this our Nano CF Drag™ system and when you feel how strong and smooth it is, you’ll experience the difference compared to standard carbon fiber stacked drag systems.
What is your reel made of?
No die cast parts and no short cuts. That is what you’ll find when you fish with 3-TAND. We manufacture from solid bar stock (6061-T6) and turn each reel to precision specs. You’ll find tight tolerances but enough room for easy washout and maintenance.
What material is the handle of your reel made of?
The handles on all of our reels are made from a high-tech, high strength industrial polymer called Delrin™, made by DuPont. This material is ideally suited for the fishing industry simply because it is impact resistant, abrasion free, strong, self lubricating, extremely light weight. These characteristics allowed us to design the perfect Big-Grip Handle to enhance your fly fishing experiences. Delrin™ used in a wide variety of high performance products and polymers are now the mainstay of all sporting goods -- including: firearms, automotive and other products that demand extreme durability and repeated performance without failure.
How do I maintain a reel after saltwater use?
Keep the spool on the frame and rinse under light water. Shake excess water, back drag all the way off and lay in a safe place to dry. Once dry, store in your 3-TAND reel case and put it away in a safe place for your next use. We make it that simple!
How easy is it to reverse the retrieve on your reels?
I am registering my 3-TAND fly reel. How do I locate my serial number?
It is on the inside of the frame, under the spool. Simply remove the spool and look for the laser engraved numbers.

Do you offer a maintenance plan?
We don’t force one on you but yes, we have a maintenance plan that is designed to keep your reel performing as it should. (Details to come).
What is your warranty?
We offer a limited lifetime warranty free from manufacture defects. We stand behind any defect and want to make sure you’re on the water. We can be reached at 203.813.7335 or via email at Info@3-TAND.com.
I am looking to match a 3-TAND reel up with my two-handed set up, what are the specifications sizes for Spey and Switch rods?
We know that when it comes to Fly Fishing, they’re so many ways to pursue the pull and certain fisheries and preferences drive anglers to fish with two-handed rods. We have some recommendations to help you line up your two-handed set-ups for you to have the best day on the water possible. All Switch line specifications are for integrated switch lines/Scandinavian switch lines.
